Why Skin Care Can be a Proactive Approach to Breast Health
In today’s society we are bombarded with images of women with flawless, and perfectly glowing skin but, the desire for healthy skin is not new.
Women have been obsessed with anti-aging skin care since the dawn of time making the beauty and skin care industry one of the most profitable business sectors to date. Now more than ever women are taking a deeper look into what goes on their skin.
The reason? Well, we now know that what goes on our skin goes in our body.
The beauty industry is unfortunately synonymous with carcinogens, toxins, and cancer forming ingredients making the business of beauty a dangerous one.
But what if I told you that skin care can be clean and isn’t just vanity, it is vital to your overall health, and possibly the prevention of cancer particularly breast.
First, let’s delve a bit deeper into the layer of what makes up the largest system of your body. The skin is not only the largest system but, communicates with virtually every organ.
The most important system to health care & prevention is your lymphatic system found only in gentle layers beneath the epidermis. Let’s call this system “The General”.
“The General” commands the function of this intricate system filled with immuno producing cells, lymphatic fluid, and, detoxification output.
It decides how many soldiers are needed to push fluid through, to detoxify the organs, and to produce immunogenic support. If this system is healthy, nourished, and hydrated it tends to work perfectly. If not, the production of “soldiers’ goes down or they are not strong enough to do the work.
Breast tissue has a high concentration of lymphatic nodes and fluid. The tissue is often immobilized and tight due to clothing restrictions and under garments.
This, plus dehydration, the use of toxic skin care, and lack of movement can cause stagnation in the area keeping the lymph nodes in breast tissue overwhelmed.
The breasts are often inundated with toxins as they as so close to the underarms where sweat gathers and releases. Using carcinogens in antiperspirants trap unhealthy fluid in the lymphatic glands in the breast & underarms. Ensuring movement (ie: massage), hydration, drainage and proper skin care is vital to the health of your breasts.
Your lymphatic system is made up of a series of vessels that run throughout your entire body, just like your blood vessels. So, what you do to one part of your lymphatic system will aid the entire system. This includes face, décolleté, arms, underarms, and so on.
Your lymphatic vessels run through lymph nodes, they can be as small as a green pea or as large as an almond. Clusters of lymph nodes are located in your armpit region, breasts, neck, chest, abdomen, and groin.
It is the largest circulatory system in your body. It depends on personal outward movement, massage, and triggers to pump the lymph fluid through the system it does not have an internal pump mechanism. Unlike blood which relies on the heart to pump blood through to each organ and system.
Here are a few indications your lymphatic system may be over worked/sluggish:
Puffiness in the eyes, face, feet, ankles (also called edema)
Water retention
Weight gain
Cellulite
Swelling in warm temperatures
Joint pain
Muscle stiffness (hands and feet)
Swollen glands
Constipation
Stubborn infections
Overall body aches
Anemia
Fat malabsorption
Acne/skin disorders
GI disturbances
Feeling worn out
Autoimmune disease
Fibromyalgia
Cancer
Rashes, eczema, psoriasis
Headaches, swollen glands
Swollen breasts during PMS
Uterine fibroids/cysts
Your lymphatic vessels carry this fluid through your body, while your lymph nodes use specialized white blood cells to clean this fluid, removing waste products, dead cells, and even unwanted microorganisms.
The lymphatic system is responsible for communication to every pathway of the body, organs and systems. Like the drains in the house they commonly get clogged and need special attention to keep them clean and clear.
What does this have to do with skin care and breast health?
Well, if the skin/lymphatic system is virtually everywhere on your body, and needs to be kept clean and clear to work effectively then, caring for your skin is probably the single most effective thing you can do to keep your immuno system optimally functioning. This also includes breast health as the highest concentration of lymph is located in the breast tissue.
If you continue to keep your lymphatic system moving, (think river vs. lake) the area’s with the highest concentration of lymphatic cells (ie: breast tissue) also moves clean and clear.
This is a simple proactive approach to health care. The less toxins, the more movement, hydration, and drainage = healthy immuno function. Healthy immuno function = less free radical damage.
This means massages, facials, steams? Oh my!!
Yes. It certainly does. Remember your lymphatic system needs a prompt to function so movement, temperature ranges, massage, and drainage is exactly what we’re talking about.
Skin care and massages aren’t just stress relievers although, they feel sensational they’re actually so enjoyable because they remove toxins that tend to weigh us down, move fluid stagnation, and bring healthy lymphatic fluid, blood flow, & collagen to the skins surface.
That goes for facials, exercise, steams, sauna’s, acupressure, at home Gua Sha with your favourite toxin free skin care, breast massage, lymphatic massage, and overall detoxification applications.
Use them ladies, enjoy them, make time for self-care, choose quality skin care products, drink loads of water, dry brush, use aluminum free deodorants (important for breast health) & feel amazing while doing it.
After all, knowing that taking care of your skin can help bring vital nutrients, lymphatic fluid, and immuno detoxification triggers forward you can’t afford not to.
